About Najma

Location: St. Paul Telehealth and/or In-Person
Pronouns: She/Her

I believe therapy should be a space where people feel comfortable being seen, heard, and understood without judgment. I enjoy getting to know people beyond what brings them into therapy and learning about the experiences, relationships, and environments that have shaped who they are. I believe everyone has their own story, and I value meeting people where they are while supporting them through the challenges and changes, they may be experiencing.

I have experience working with children, adolescents, and adults, as well as couples and families, with clients ranging from ages 8–40. I particularly enjoy working with families and exploring the dynamics within relationships. I find it meaningful to help people better understand one another, strengthen communication, and feel more connected. I also enjoy supporting individuals through anxiety, depression, life transitions, adjustment concerns, self-esteem and identity development, emotional regulation, and relationship and family challenges.

I love working with people from all different backgrounds and perspectives. As a Somali-American, I value creating a welcoming space where people feel respected and comfortable bringing their whole selves into therapy. I believe our backgrounds, cultures, relationships, and life experiences all play an important role in shaping who we are. I’m always looking for opportunities to continue learning about the communities I work with and gaining a deeper understanding of the experiences that shape the individuals and families I serve.

I earned my Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy and am currently working toward licensure under supervision. I enjoy learning from the people I work with and believe therapy is a collaborative process where there is always room for growth and learning. Outside of work, I enjoy Pilates, traveling, and trying new restaurants and cuisines. I’m excited to continue growing both personally and professionally, getting to know the community, and building meaningful connections with the individuals and families I have the opportunity to work with. I am available for both in-person and telehealth services.
