About Brent

Pronouns: He/Him

I lead the Psychological Testing team at Natalis and conduct psychological evaluations for adolescents and adults at the Woodbury and St. Paul locations and through our mobile testing team. Most people seek a psych eval because they have some questions about themselves. These may take the form of a specific diagnosis or symptom, or it could be as broad as “I do this, what’s that about!?” I believe the function of an evaluation – beyond any specific diagnosis – should result in you leaving with a better understanding of how you think, feel, and what makes you tick. Gaining a better understanding of personality, cognitive ability, learning and memory etc. can lead to improved self-awareness and ultimately a better sense of motivation, value, and purpose.

When not at work, I am an avid singer, frequently performing with professional choral groups in the Twin Cities area and my district champion barbershop quartet. You might also find me training for my next marathon, doing Bob Ross-style oil painting, singing karaoke, fermenting home-grown chili peppers into hot-sauce, or simply enjoying life with my wife and our pooch, Gus, the giant Pomeranian.

I completed my APA-accredited Doctoral Internship at Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation specializing in mental health and substance use integration. I have also completed trainings in therapy at Park Nicollet Methodist Hospital and Park Avenue Center, and advanced clinical training in psychological assessment with the Clinic for Attention, Learning and Memory (CALM). I completed my Master of Arts degree and APA accredited Doctor of Psychology degree from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota (M.A., 2017; Psy.D., 2020); and Bachelor of Arts degree in Music and Political Science from Concordia College, Moorhead, MN (B.A., magna cum laude, 2012).

I am a Licensed Psychologist in the State of Minnesota and am a credentialed member of the Medical Staff of University of Minnesota Medical Center and Abbott Northwestern Hospital. I am a member of the Minnesota Psychological Association (MPA).
