I believe that therapy should empower individuals to build the future they want for themselves and for the world around them. I view each individual as the expert on their own experience and strive to build safe, collaborative relationships with each client that will help them cultivate their own self-understanding and resilience. I work from liberation psychology and feminist therapy frameworks, meaning that I believe mental health difficulties are often symptoms of living under oppressive systems like capitalism, racism, sexism, cisheterosexism, ableism, and imperialism/colonialism. I also draw from therapy modalities such as cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT).
I work with clients 16 and older and am passionate about working with individuals from marginalized communities, such as people of color, people from immigrant/refugee communities, LGBTQIA+ individuals, and transracial and transnational/international adoptees. I have experience working with a variety of mental health concerns, including depression, anxiety, and various forms of trauma. My particular clinical interests include working with intergenerational trauma and identity exploration and development.
I received my PhD in counseling psychology from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities and completed my pre-doctoral internship at Hennepin County Medical Center. I am currently practicing under the supervision of Dr. Lydia Christianson, PsyD, BCBA, LP.
