Brittany Quimby, MSEd, PsyD

Postdoctoral Psychology Fellow

Dr. Quimby grew up in Minnesota and is excited about returning to the Twin Cities after completing educational requirements in Philadelphia for graduate school. Prior to doctoral training, she received her masters degree in counseling at the University of Pennsylvania. She recently completed her doctoral degree in clinical psychology at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. As a result of receiving doctoral training within a medical school, Dr. Quimby has developed expertise in the intersection of emotional, behavioral, and physical concerns. She has experience working alongside a multidisciplinary team providing behavioral health consultation services in primary care offices. Specifically, she helps clients learn how to make lasting healthy lifestyle changes as it relates to weight management, irritable bowel syndrome, coping with chronic pain and chronic medical conditions, insomnia, caregiving, and grief. Dr. Quimby has been trained in applying such knowledge and skills to the outpatient therapy setting, as she believes in treating the whole person.

Dr. Quimby has had extensive training in Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) through her coursework and clinical training sites. She was trained at Aaron T. Beck’s Center for Cognitive Therapy at the University of Pennsylvania, under the supervision of Dr. Cory Newman, founding fellow of the Academy of Cognitive Therapy. She has developed a knowledge of evidence-based treatments for a variety of mental health concerns commonly seen in outpatient therapy practices, including anxiety, depression, panic, phobias, social anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, health anxiety, posttraumatic stress disorder, acute stress, adjustment, and ADHD. Dr. Quimby also has received formal training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). She strives to create a warm and welcoming environment for her clients to feel heard and genuinely understood. This helps to tailor her approach to meet clients’ unique needs. She finds helping others reach their full potential and live in accordance with their values exceptionally rewarding.

In addition to therapy, Dr. Quimby has also pursued training experiences in conducting psychological testing, specifically in the areas of psychodiagnostics and personality. While training at the Center for Cognitive Therapy at the University of Pennsylvania, Brittany was supervised by Dr. Russell Ramsay, renowned ADHD researcher and psychologist.

In her free time, she enjoys cooking, boxing, snowboarding, and reading a good book with a warm cup of coffee

Dr. Quimby sees clients at the University Ave. and Woodbury locations. She is supervised by Dr. Robin McLeod, PhD, LP.
