Services

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy is an integrative psychotherapy approach that has been extensively researched and proven effective for the treatment of trauma, including complex trauma. For some people, remembering a traumatic event may feel as bad as going through it the first time because the images, sounds, smells feel the same. Such memories have a lasting negative effect that interferes with the way a person sees the world and the way they relate to other people. EMDR is an approach that incorporates elements from many different interventions that are recommended for trauma and PTSD by having a direct effect on how the brain processes information. Simulating what happens naturally during REM sleep and dreaming, EMDR can be viewed as a physiologically based therapy to help people deal with traumatic memories in a new and less upsetting way. The goal is to work toward helping the client no longer relive the images, sounds, and feelings of the traumatic event.

The following problems can also be treated with EMDR therapy
EMDR has been established scientifically as effective for post traumatic stress, however, clinicians have reported success using EMDR in treatment of the following conditions:

  • Complicated Grief

  • Addictions
  • Dissociative Disorders

Professional Staff

Our clinicians are licensed psychotherapists and certified EMDR therapists who have specialized backgrounds in treating trauma, including PTSD. We work with individuals ages 10 and up, and can help address issues such as bullying, abuse, neglect, accidents, deployment, disasters, and other life events that negatively impact day to day living.

It is possible to manage and reduce symptoms many years after the trauma occurred, which means it is never too late to seek help. We treat both simple and complex trauma, including PTSD and dissociative disorders.
